Librairie du Baobab: Atelier d’initiation à la cyanotypie [English]

Sign up for the cyanotype workshop with Nicole Chuard on Saturday, November 9 at 10:00 a.m.!

To practice cyanotype is to love photography and blue passionately. It also means returning to the roots of photography, integrating the unexpected aspects and imperfections of the iron process, unlike digital, where almost everything can be corrected. Finally, it means creating images, in most cases, without a camera.

As is often the case, my approach to cyanotype began with learning about and admiring Anna Atkins’ fern and algae plates. This was followed by a closer look at old family photos found at flea markets, or at pieces of cyanotype that accurately evoked the work of lacemakers.

The first step was to look at images from the past to learn about the history of the process, before taking the plunge and doing her own trials and research.

Nicole Chuard, a Valdo-Fribourg photographer, has been practicing cyanotype for 7 years. Creator of Les Cyanotypes stationery shop.
