The Fondation P. Gianadda invites you to a new concert on Friday March 7 at 7:30 pm.
Named “Artist of the Year” by Gramophone magazine and principal guest conductor of the Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne as of September 2024, Barbara Hannigan is one of the most fascinating musicians of her generation, a multi-talented artist who performs as conductor as well as soprano soloist. Watching her sing while conducting is an experience you won’t soon forget.
Barbara Hannigan comes to the Fondation Pierre Gianadda for the first time. Accompanied by the OCL, she has concocted an exciting program featuring modern and contemporary works. She has chosen to present Iranian composer Golfam Kayham, to whom she has commissioned a work for soprano and orchestra: Je ne suis pas une fable à conter is based on a moving poem by Iranian writer Ahmad Shamlou. This text touched me deeply,” explains the conductor, “because it can be interpreted in so many different ways. And I love having mystery in a text. What are we telling?
