Dufour fortifications

Straying a little off the path, you will be able to discover all the fortifications of this strategic site.

A real strategic passage for access to the upper Rhône valley, Saint-Maurice is steeped in military history. The Dufour fortifications were built as early as 1831, at a time when the political and military situation in Europe was in turmoil and there was a threat of war in the air. On this route, walkers can enjoy Saint-Maurice’s vineyards, which are located in the canton of Vaud.
